It’s not everyday in dis city dat our daily routines r disrupted by things beyond our control. Things like the works of strangers, and the wonders of nature, aren’t exactly put into consideration when one is planning out their day.
So, it’s always amusing when it does happen.
As I was making my way to the bus stop, jamming to some Ne-Yo while enjoying my Saturday afternoon, I came across an unlikely obstacle. It was not one of weather, or a stray animal, or dat one guy on drugs I actively avoid…

No it was a big, brown fallen tree, with its leaves intact. Since I can’t post the photo of it here w/o exposing where I live, here’s the closest thing to it I cld find online:

So I tot, eh, just a tree, I’ll just walk around it.
…until I realised it was sorta blocking the “around it” parts as well. The surrounding grass was oso wet and muddy, so I’d rather not ruin my shoes by walking thru dat. Well shit then, guess I gotta go the long way then.

The additional abt 5 mins of reroute caused me to just miss my bus, which means an additional like, 10 mins of waiting time. And u noe waiting for a bus in dis humidity makes u feel like melted cheese in an oven.

But it’s ok. It is a Saturday after all. I shan’t let a minor inconvenience get in the way of my day of enjoyment :>
.
Then I remembered abt my friend just the other day, who turned up like an hour late for class. When asked why, he just showed us dis:

Dat was very much amusing. Its like, wat r the chances rite? It’s not his fault dat the floors take dat long to dry. Nor is it the contractors’ fault for just doing their job. Just an unfortunate case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

During my NS / conscription days, I’d hear some goofy ass police reports being made in the room next door. I rmb one of such quite distinctly. It was a woman trapped in her house calling for help, becos apparently there were a bunch of otters right outside her door.

Bruh, imagined being terrorised by otters chillin abt outside ur apartment. Dats like, the most oddly specifically Singaporean problem I’ve ever heard.
I noe otters can get aggressive when provoked and stuff, so it’s probably actly a lil dangerous. But like damn, how unlucky do u gotta be for them to turn up at ur house.
I had to do a double take when I heard dat. Like, ain’t no way dis shit’s real, lol.
While these are genuine problems dat cause disruptions to ur day, they are absurd enough to make u sigh, question ur terrible chances wif luck, and then laugh abt it wif ppl once the problem is resolved. And I think dats a pretty nice divergence from an otherwise mundane day 🙂
