When it’s raining heavily enough dat I needa use my umbrella, I wld deliberately walk the path dat has the least shelter available. To me, it’s a means of maximising my umbrella usage, ensuring shielding from the most amount of water droplets from the sky as possible. It feels like something I might as well do, since I oready have the umbrella out and about.
Apparently my brother does the same. In fact, I didn’t even realise I did dis, until he told me abt dis habit of his. Great minds think alike. But fools seldom differ too…

As I am writing dis silly entry at 10:39 pm, when I shldve gone to shower like 30 mins ago, I suddenly have the urge to pee. Dis urge is gonna force me to go to the toilet, sorta like nature’s way of getting me to do so.
Aaand since I’m going to the toilet, I might as well go for my shower now too, right? Wld I rlly wanna make two trips to the bathroom? I dun think so. Instead let’s murder a plural number of birds with a singular rock.

Dis “might as well…” mentality has, in many cases, gotten me to be more efficient than I wld’ve otherwise been. It takes a certain level of slightly-below-average enthusiasm towards a task to have to rely on such bullshit reasoning. But when I do get it to work, I can quickly find myself transformed into the most productive person in the world. It’s always the starting of a task dats the hardest…
It’s like when I’m gonna walk past the supermarket, I mite as well buy those groceries I keep forgetting abt.
I’m sitting on a nice chair in a relatively quiet environment, so I mite as well get some work done.
It’s almost 1:30 am, I mite as well stay up to watch the late game fixture. Wolves is playing 😃
.

….Ok, so maybe sometimes it backfires. But overall, I think it brings more good than harm. Ofc, dis wldnt be a very good “philosophy” to live by. But sometimes, we just need a little nudge to get things done. Experts wld call it some form of “habit stacking”. I call it revving up my lazy ass 💨👍
