{ Source Amnesia }

Around probably a year ago, on wat I think was a Sunday evening, I caught a glimpse of a show on TV. As per usual, the TV had been left on by my dad, and nobody was actly watching it. Dis time it was on channel Suria (the Malay broadcasting channel over here…)

I literally only saw and rmb one scene from dat show. A teacher went to “rescue” a student who was apparently being held ransom at a…. cafe…?

Then once the teacher got him, they went back to the kampung in his car, while the rock ballad song “Pasti Sempurna” played in the background 🎸🤘(banger of a song, btw)…

…Ok dat doesn’t sound quite right 😭…. But istg dat was wat happened… Though I will admit, memory’s a bit hazy…

I rmb dat scene so distinctively becos it felt so awkward and lol’able. The song didn’t rlly fit the context like, at all, lol. The acting was oso abit weird, and the whole scene + transition felt unintentionally funny. So it lived rent-free in my head for the rest of dat day…

And oso the music video for dat “Pasti Sempurna” song itself is oso amusing. There’s a supposed-to-be tuff part where they’re in jail. But apparently there were some scheduling problems, so they had to use some guy’s shop shutter instead:

Anyways, I quickly forgot abt all of dis the next day. Like, entirely…

Until… I re-listened to dat song a couple days ago. Then the memory of dat show and scene immediately spawn into my mind 🙂.

Like an itch dat appeared in my brain. I just had to look up the movie to see dat scene again.

So I tried searching for it… to no avail ofc, lol. I mean, wat was I expecting by googling “malay movie where a teacher saves kidnapped student at cafe”…

Even ChatGPT didn’t noe wat I was talking abt. Gave me some very wrong answers. Felt like it was going somewhere… but nope. Didn’t think I’d ever get frustrated wif ChatGPT, but here we are…

So I gave up. The itch still left untouched. So close yet so far 😞. Like edging, to no release 🤡

Dat was until just yesterday. When a familiar soundtrack started faintly playing from the TV. So softly dat I wld’ve definitely missed it had I been wearing earphones.
