I have mentioned my weird love affair for Woodlands, one of the few places here dat actly feels like home to me. There’s another aspect abt the place dat I had forgotten abt.

There’s dis place in there called The Woodgrove, a small little “mall” in the heartlands. It’s alright in of itself, but nothing particularly special…
Until abt around 3pm on weekdays, where it will be filled wif school kids. High school kids, mostly a mix of Caucasians and Asians.
Hmmm, high school? Wat da hell? We dun use such terminology here.

.
Actly, those kids r from the Singapore American School. So they technically are in high school, and some in middle school. A lil yankee town it becomes, as they come in large groups.

Besides wearing their school shirts, they r easily distinguishable by their accents. Low-key I find it amusing, cos it’s wat we usually only hear on TV. It’s like watching an after-school Disney Channel sitcom back in the days, except u noe, in real life…
.
Sometimes I’m there to eat or buy stuff at around dat time. So I’ll be surrounded by them, and can’t help but listen in on wat they’re talking abt. Mostly things like gossip, like how did Mary-Kate lose all dat weight, and Katie having a baby so I guess Tom’s straight (hehe). But it’s made slightly more spicy wif their young teenage dirtbag accents.

.
It’s oso abit interesting wif the Asian dudes. Cos they look like ur average Singaporean lad, so u just assume they’re one…. til they start speaking, and then ur like hmmmmm…..

.
Most of them oso sorta live in their own bubble. Apparently, there’s dis small American community at dis very random part of Woodlands. They all come from absolutely wealthy and loaded families, so they live tgt in their own private households, doing…. idk, yankee things.
Like I heard they do trick-or-treating over there, just cos they can. I’m oso pretty sure they play baseball, and dat the sport of “football” means something completely different to them…

Oso I like to believe they sing musicals and dance during lunch, at the cafeteria. While oso avoiding the “cheese touch” at all costs.

Yea, all dats how all “high schools” work, rite ? π€
