{ Hair Woes }

Up til abt the middle of last year, I had long hair. It was like an expression of my liberty, having been a conscript for abt 2 years prior to dat. I oso wanted to experiment wif something new 😁.

I’mma be real, I dun look back fondly on dat era. It was initially fine when it was only long enuf to like, cover my face.

But when it got to around shoulder length it was getting real annoying. Things like having to maintain it essentially everyday, getting it trimmed consistently, and waiting like 30+ minutes after showering just for it to dry. It’s like hol up, I didn’t sign up for dis shit.

The only thing keeping me going was to be a sexy mofo like Mr Vanness Wu during his Meteor Garden days:

But then u start seeing pics of him wif shorter hair, and u think wait a minute, he’s way better looking w/o those locks 🤔. And u start to realise dat he was looking gd in spite of the long hair, not becos of it…

Even now wif short hair, I find it to be abit of a pain in the ass. But to be honest, I think das more of a me problem.

Ok but tbf, my hair is fine AF, and the weather here is humid as a hot summer in Saudi Arabia like, 90% of the time. Whatever styling I’m doing ain’t staying bruh 😞.

There’s oso not a whole lot of emphasis on the need to look so presentable here. Dis isn’t South Korea. Ppl are allowed to be ugly.

… Though then again, sometimes it low-key makes u wish ppl wld willingly try to look better. It’s more abt the showcase of effort than the actual appearance….

Anyways, I therefore like to just comb my hair downwards to the right. It’s great cos it’s easy, efficient, and conceals my big forehead 🫣 . Then I realise I just sorta look like my younger self. Like actly.

I noe a centre parting wif some ✨ volume 💫 wld look better. At the same time, dat requires finding the right hair products, as well as funny combing techniques.

Styling my hair occasionally is fine. I enjoy it, in fact. But having to do it everyday wld just make u wish u were bald instead, cos dat probably makes things a lot easier. The frequent use of hair products probably isn’t great for the scalp, either. Like, who am I trynna impress at the end of the day?

But yea, despite all dat, I think the current hairstyle sorta sucks. I will leave it as part of my “dgaf” outfit. And aim to find the middle ground between “low effort” and “too much work”. It’d be nice to try and look good now, becos I’m only ever young once ☝️…
