{ Good Weather }

Some rainy days up ahead, as the monsoon season is here again. Though climate change probably means dis one’s going to be longer, or more intense, or something along those lines. Idk how to feel abt dat, but Greta Thunberg wld probably say its bad.

As wif everything, there are pros and cons to dis. Being the pessimist dat I am, let me tell u my personal cons first.

Firstly it means I’m stuck here at a McDonalds instead of being able to go home. U see me being a walking enthusiast, upon seeing the drizzle as I was abt to embark on my journey, thought I’d just chill here for a lil bit, while waiting for it to go away. Maybe I’ll enjoy a McSpicy Burger while I’m at it, cos spicy = hot, and dat will help tackle the cold weather, right?

Unfortunately the drizzle didn’t go away. In fact, it got heavier, with some lightning to go wif it too. Definitely not the most ideal outcome, and another reason for me not to trust my gut instincts. But it’s ok, it can’t be helped, I guess… 😔

As I mentioned, it’s also too cold. Like, genuinely. I do realise the absurdity of me calling Singapore’s weather too cold, but it is, goddamit. I have once described anything below the normal blazing temperatures here as “winter”, and I still believe so.

But, dis is mostly due to my own pathetic body’s vulnerability to low temperatures. When it’s too cold, my body starts to malfunction. My joints start hurting, my eyes start to sting, and I am suddenly unable to grab things wif my hands. It feels like my whole body is dried up, u noe, and it’s just not comfortable.

Now the outdoor temperature itself isn’t cold. In fact according to Google, it “feels like 34°C”.

Ok in wat world does dis cold weather ‘feel’ like 34°C. If it actly is, then eh, dis global warming thing doesn’t seem too bad now, does it? Ok, I dun think Google took into account the wiiiinds. Like, it’s a pretty big factor to how cold it feels. Dis isn’t physics class, u can’t just ignore the wind resistance. It most definitely does NOT feel like 34°C right now.

But I’m willing to forgive all of these drawbacks, u noe why? Becos dis weather always transforms me into a much more chill guy. Without the scorching heat, there are no external factors bringing my internal temperature up. Which means I won’t be irrationally agitated over small matters. U forgot my order? It’s all good, I’ll just wait a lil longer 👍. Damn I happened to just miss the bus? No problem, I’ll just wait 10 mins for the next one 👍. My favourite football team is getting thrashed again? No worries, I always enjoyed the second division anyway…😭 (no wait, 👍)

And I noe for a fact I’m not the only who transforms to be more calm when the temperature drops. I see more wholesome interactions around me during dis period. People around treat me better too. They go from being like dis,

to being like dis,

Ofc dis is only possible becos everyone is, whether aware or not, enjoying nature’s cooling blessing; a short escape away from the usual heat. As much as I like dis weather, I’m also glad it only comes about twice a year (around the middle and the end of the year) for a few weeks at most. Dat way, it makes these days feel more special.

Which is funny becos appearance-wise, grey clouds and darkness is usually indicative of sadness. Here, it’s the complete opposite. It is instead great when the rain makes the whole surroundings look like the Village Hidden in Mist from Naruto.

So, I will enjoy the weather while it lasts. I hope it stays as loooong as it wants too…. ok maybe not too long, yea? I mean, I still gotta get home….
